The School of Tourism and Urban-Rural Planning is one of the earliest institutions in China to offer a tourism management program and the only disciplinary college in Zhejiang Province's universities that boasts a complete tourism management talent training system covering undergraduate, master's, doctoral programs, and a postdoctoral research station.
The Tourism Management program has been selected as a national-level first-class undergraduate program, and the Hotel Management program as a provincial-level first-class undergraduate program. The Tourism Management program has successfully passed the UNWTO-TedQual Certification (Tourism Education Quality Certification) of the World Tourism Organization of the United Nations. The school owns 11 provincial-level first-class courses, including provincial-level virtual simulation experimental teaching courses.
In the 2024 Shanghai Ranking's Ranking of Chinese Universities by Major, the Tourism Management program ranked 18th in China (top 4% nationwide) and 1st in Zhejiang Province, receiving an A rating. In the 2025 Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, the university's Tourism and Leisure Management discipline ranked 41st in the world.
