04 Eligibility
1.Comprehensive Requirements
In principle, applicants for undergraduate programs should be under 25 years old, for master programs should be under 35 years old, and for doctoral programs should be under 45 years old. The applicants should be non-Chinese citizens, who is physically and mentally healthy and has good conduct. With a valid foreign passport, they should have completed the study of the previous stage (those who have not graduated while applying must provide the pre-graduation certificate and obtain relevant diplomas before the registration).
2.Nationality Requirements
Foreign students should meet the nationality requirements stipulated in the document No.12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education.Since 2021, any applicant who applies to study in undergraduate or college diploma programs in China's higher education institutions as an international student shall, in addition to meeting other eligibility criteria of the institutions, have held a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for at least four years (inclusive) and have a record of actual residence abroad for two years or more in the past four years (by April 30 of the admission year). Nine consecutive months of residence abroad in a year may be considered as one year, and the calculation is based on entry and exit stamps.
3.Language Requirements
Chinese-taught Degree Programs: Applicants must provide HSK Level 4 or above certificate.
*Applicants for the Undergraduate Business Chinese program must possess an HSK Level 3 certificate to apply. Successful applicants will receive a Conditional Admission offer. This requires students to obtain an HSK Level 4 certificate within their first year of enrollment. Failure to meet this requirement will result in dismissal from the university.
English-taught Degree Programs: Applicants (except for English native speakers) must provide proof of English language proficiency such as TOEFL/IELTS/DUOLINGUO Proof or proof of previous study conducted in English. Undergraduate applicants should have a language proficiency score of no less than IELTS 5.5/TOEFL 80/DUOLINGUO 90.Applicants for master’s and doctoral programs should have a language proficiency score of no less than IELTS 6.0/TOEFL 80/DUOLINGUO 100.
4.Academic Proficiency Test for International Undergraduate Programs in China (CSCA)
In accordance with the requirements of the higher authorities, starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, all international students applying for undergraduate programs must provide valid CSCA(See the download link at the end of the article for attachment I) transcripts. The China Scholarship Council (CSC) will organize the first test on December 21st, 2025 and open for registration in November. The specific time and arrangements will be announced through the official website (www.csca.cn). Starting from 2026, regular testing services will be provided five times a year, in January, March, April, June and December respectively.For the examination subjects and test paper languages corresponding to each major, please refer to the directory of admitted majors(see link below).
05 Application Documents
Please log in the Online Application System at hzic.at0086.cn/student and Submit the following documents:
1.Copy of Passport.
2.Notarized highest education certificate and academic transcripts(this year’ s graduates provide proof of pre-graduation). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translated English or Chinese version. Applicants must present the original copy of the aforementioned documents when registering at ZJSU.
3. Language Certificate: applicants applying for English-taught programs, except for native English speakers, must provide proof of English proficiency such as TOEFL/IELTS/DUOLINGUO (TOEFL ITP scores are not accepted) or proof of previous English-taught programs. Applicants applying for Chinese-taught programs must provide a certificate of HSK level 4 or above or proof of previous Chinese-taught programs.

5. Study Plan or Personal Statement in Chinese or English.
6. 2-inch photo (Photo format: color 2-inch bareheaded photo, white background without border, head takes up 2/3 of the photo size, photo size is not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio is 4:3, size is 100-500kb, JPG format).
7. Photocopy ofForeigner Physical Examination Formfilled in Chinese or English(see the download link at the end of the article for attachment II) . Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only six months (your results should be valid when you submit your application).
*Please be advised that all the health information provided in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form is true and accurate. Please note that any intentional concealment or misrepresentation of health conditions will be considered a serious issue of integrity, which may lead to the rejection of the application or the revocation of any obtained admission eligibility.

9. Applicant under the age of 16 (till September 1st,2026) should submit Letter of Authorization and Guardian’s Letter of Guarantee (see the download link at the end of the article for attachment III), guardian must be adult Chinese person.
10. Those who were Chinese citizens and later naturalized as foreign citizens shall submit: (1) Certificate of cancellation of Chinese nationality or registered residence; (2) Certificate of naturalization as a foreign nationality; (3) Entry and exit records from April 30, 2022 to April 30, 2026.
11. Applicants who acquired foreign nationality at birth in a foreign country, if both or one of their parents is a Chinese citizen shall provide: (1) Certificate of foreign nationality acquired at birth; (2) Certificate of permanent residence of the applicants’ parents (Chinese citizens) in foreign countries before applicants’ birth; (3) Entry and exit records from April 30, 2022 to April 30, 2026.
12. Certificate of application fee: CNY 400 remittance certificate (the application fee will not be refunded whether accepted or not). Reminder: Please make sure to accurately indicate the payment reference number, full name, passport number, and major of the applying student when remitting the payment.
13. Undergraduate applicants must provide valid CSCA transcripts.
* The application may be invalid if the submitted materials do not meet the above requirements. All information and materials provided are factually true and correct. Otherwise all the consequences caused are undertaken by yourself (including but not limited to being disqualified from admission or expelled from academic status).


06 Graduation Requirements
In disciplines and majors that use Chinese as the teaching language, international students should have a Chinese proficiency level of Level 5 in the International Chinese Proficiency Standards upon graduation. Generally, they are required to obtain an HSK Level 5 certificate issued by the China Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education.
In disciplines and majors that use foreign languages as their teaching language, international students with a bachelor’s degree should reach at least Level 4 of the “International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards” in Chinese language proficiency upon graduation. Generally, they are required to obtain the HSK Level 4 certificate issued by the China Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education. International students with a postgraduate degree should reach at least Level 3 of the “International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards” in Chinese language proficiency upon graduation. Generally, they are required to obtain the HSK Level 3 certificate issued by the China Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education.

08 Selection, Admission and Notification

The school will comprehensively consider the best candidates according to the students’ scores, language proficiency, interview and other factors in the previous stage. Once we have surely received all the materials required for students’ applications, we will send the Letter of Admission, Visa Application for Study in China and other admission materials to officially admitted students after the school announces the new academic year calendar.
*The result of scholarship application will be notified by email later on.
09 Registration
Admitted students shall strictly follow the enrollment time written in the Admission Notice to get registered. The original materials of graduation certificate, degree certificate, HSK certificate, English proficiency certificate and so on will be checked during registration. Admitted Students with Chinese study experience are required to verify the original materials of attendance (90% or above) certificate, graduation certificate, performance certificate during registration.Those who fail to provide the corresponding certificates will be disqualified from admission.The registration time is late August or early September in 2026, specified by the Admission Notice.
