I. Introduction of Hangzhou
The capital city of Zhejiang Province and its economic, cultural, science and educational center, Hangzhou is one of the major cities in China such as Beijing and Shanghai. It also is a popular city of scenic tourism nominated as the World Historical and Cultural Treasures by UNESCO. Boasting a long history and ranking among the seven ancient capitals in China, Hangzhou stands out as the hosting city for the 11th G20 Summit.
Renowned as one of China's seven Ancient Capitals, historic Hangzhou is proudly among the first group of cities that the central government designated as Historic and Cultural City. Also known as the Fabled City in the Southeast, Hangzhou shares with Suzhou the ultimate fame of Paradise on Earth. Marco Polo, the Italian traveler of the 13th century, lauded Hangzhou as the world's most magnificent and noble city.
It's otherwise recognized as the Capital of E-commerce, the Top Ten Innovative Cities of China, the Top Ten Vibrant Cities of China, the Top Ten Low-carbon Cities of China, the Most Accomplished City in People's Well-being Improvement, and the Best Image Friendly City. The Comprehensive Pilot Zone of Cross Border E-Commerce was established in 2015 in Hangzhou. Alibaba Group, the world's biggest online B2B business, and Geely which acquired Volvo, are both headquartered in Hangzhou.
II. Introduction of Zhejiang Gongshang University
Zhejiang Gongshang University(ZJSU), founded in 1911, is the Earliest Business School in Modern China. It is located in a picturesque city--Hangzhou which is the capital city of Zhejiang Province.
It ranks China’s Top 8 and Zhejiang’s Top 1 University for Finance and Economics. It is Grade A Institution in the Evaluation by Ministry of Education of China. ZJSU is also a Key Comprehensive University co-constructed by Ministry of Education of China, Ministry of Commerce of China and Zhejiang Provincial Government. The University was confirmed to be the Internationalized Characteristic University and Key Construction University by Zhejiang Province.
ZJSU is a comprehensive university covering nine academic areas including economics, management, law, literature, history, philosophy, engineering, science and arts. ZJSU offers more than 60 full-time Chinese-taught degree programs to international students including undergraduate, graduate, PhD and post-doctoral programs. The university also provides non-degree programs such as Chinese Language and Culture Program, China and Chinese Business. Bachelor program of Chinese Language and Literature(Business Chinese) and 37 English-taught degree programs are especially designed for international students.
The university has a full-time student population of 31300, a high level faculty and staff team of 2500 and has an area of 165.7 hectares, with three campuses: Xiasha Campus, Jiaogong Campus and Tonglu Campus. More than 2200 international students are studying on the campuses coming from more than one hundred countries.
III. Program Introduction
1. Brief Introduction
The Bachelor Program of Chinese and Literature (Business) is a characteristic major especially designed for international students. The program focuses on Business Chinese, taking Chinese business, Chinese economics, Chinese history and culture as main courses, aims to equip international students with the systematic knowledge of modern Chinese, and the basic knowledge and skills of business Chinese, to have a solid foundation of Chinese language skills, Chinese business communication and communicative competence.
2.Educational Objectives
Chinese Language and Literature (Business Chinese) adheres to the integration and innovation of education on China's national conditions, professional education, general education, and cultural and sports education. It aims to construct a talent cultivation system that emphasizes the development of five aspects, namely moral, professional, physical, psychological, and digital skills. The goal is to cultivate individuals with good moral and ethical qualities, professional competence, physical fitness, and psychological qualities. These individuals should also possess a broad international perspective, solid foundation in Chinese language skills, and knowledge in politics, economics, business, culture, and other related fields. They should be proficient in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation skills in Chinese, and possess good cross-cultural communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and business skills. Ultimately, they should become innovative and outstanding talents in international business who can work in departments such as business, trade, culture, foreign affairs, education, and tourism.
3.Teaching Requirements
(1) Quality Requirements: Possess good moral qualities and a correct worldview, outlook on life, and values; have the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, a sense of social responsibility, Chinese sentiments, and an international perspective; have humanistic and scientific literacy, work ethic, artistic accomplishment, innovation spirit, and cooperative spirit.
(2) Knowledge Requirements: Systematically master Chinese language knowledge such as phonetics, vocabulary, grammar, and discourse; understand basic information about China's history, politics, economy, diplomacy, society, and culture; be familiar with Chinese language and culture knowledge; understand the basic knowledge of language learning; be familiar with and master China's foreign trade and international trade policies, regulations, basic theories, and practices; master the basic theories and methods of linguistics and have relevant basic knowledge of regional and country studies.
(3) Ability Requirements: Possess the ability to use Chinese language, cross-cultural communication ability; have literary appreciation ability; have the ability to use professional knowledge for thinking, innovation, participation in scientific research, and business.

Notes:
1.Students with HSK level 4 exempted from courses should gain the credits for Grade one through examination.
2.All enrolled students have to take the entrance Chinese Language Proficiency Test.
If students do not pass the test, you might either be downgraded or dismissed according to the test grades.
V. Application Guidance
1.Qualifications for Application:
(1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
a. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens must become foreign citizens before April 30, 2018, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2018 to April 30, 2022 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year).
b. The applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents are both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen, must also meet the requirements above.
(2) Education background requirement:
Applicants must have high school certificate.
(3) Language requirement:
Applicants must provide HSK Level 3 or above certificate
2.Documents required:
(1)Please log in the Online Application System at hzic.at0086.cn/student and Submit the following documents
(2)Notarized highest education certificate and academic transcripts (this year’s graduates provide proof of pre-graduation). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translated English or Chinese version. Applicants must present the original cope of the aforementioned documents when registering at ZJSU.
(3)Language certificate: HSK Level 3 or above certificate (or proof of previous study conducted in Chinese)

(5)2-inch photo (Photo format: color 2-inch bareheaded photo, white background without border, head takes up 2/3 of the photo size, photo size is not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio is 4:3, size is 100-500kb, JPG format)
(6)Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form.pdf filled in Chinese or English. The form printed by Chinese quarantine authority must cover all of the items listed in it. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only six months (your results should be valid when you submit your application)

VI. Scholarships
Students can apply for the Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship and the School Scholarship for Chinese Language and Literature (Business Chinese). For specific details and application methods, please refer to the website.
VII. Evaluation Process
1.Applicants submit application in the Online Application System of Zhejiang Gongshang University (http://hzic.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx)
2. The Admission office from College of International Education review the application for the first round.
3. Applicants should check the application status in the system from time to time and supplement documents if necessary.
4. The major school review application for the second round.
5. The result of second round review by major school will return to Admission Office from College of International Education.
6. Applicants can check the result of application online and upload supplementary documents if necessary.
7. The Admission Office will send electronic Acceptance letter and Admission Notice in the system to the admitted students, and send hard copies of admission materials according to the specific situation
*The result of scholarship application will be notified by email later on.
VIII. Registration
After being admitted, if you observe the laws and decrees of China as well as the rules and regulations of our university, please register at Zhejiang Gongshang University with required documents such as Admission Notice etc. in September, 2024 (tentative plan). Please wait for further notice about the exact date and way for registration. If you fail to register within the time limit without permission of the university, you will be regarded as giving up this admission.
